Fetal echo cardiography is a diagnostic test performed in the second trimester of foetus growth to observe the unborn child’s heart activity. Apart from other scanning, it is a higher level of echo test using a transducer type machine placed on the belly (abdominal echocardiography) that reads the sound waves echoed off from the fetus’s heart, by which even it is possible to examine the blood flow through the heart. Another method of transvaginal echocardiography is also adopted during earlier stages of pregnancy.
HOW IT'S DONE
This is almost a 30 minute procedure, also named as cardiac echo is a completely painless method employed by Fetal Echo Test Centre Delhi. The sound wave that generated is recorded by a probe and is displayed as a moving image or simply a sonogram. It is a sound wave diagnosis test that is recommended when some irregularities is diagnosed in regular check-ups during pregnancy, the only emphasis is on child’s heart condition. But, it may not always imply any medical emergency. This is also suggested by some physicians when you’ve a family history of heart disease, alcohol/drug intake during pregnancy or any other medical conditions such as any exposure to certain medications. Even if some irregularities are indicated, there are series of tests that need to get performed to reach a conclusive decision.
